biographical statement
As a standing committee in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, the Commerce Committee deals with issues relating to business, commerce and community development. The types of topics referred to the Commerce Committee are varied and include: economic development, economic stimulus, investments, mortgages and Pennsylvania based businesses. The Commerce and Economic Development Committee also examines regulations dealing with the Pennsylvania Securities Commission, the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Department of Commerce.
This Committee has undergone many name changes over the years including the Business and Commerce Committee (1969-1992), Business and Economic Development Committee (1993-1994) and Commerce and Economic Development Committee (1995-2002).
