Scope and Contents

The Commerce Committee was chaired by Peter J. Daley (Majority) with Dick L. Hess (R) as Minority Chair. Williams F. Keller (D) chaired the Subcommittee on Economic Development with Adam C. Harris (R) as Vice Chair. Rosita C. Youngblood (D) chaired the Subcommittee on Financial Services and Banking with Martin T. Causer (R) as Vice Chair. Mark Longietti (D) chaired the Subcommittee on Housing with Mike Fleck (R) as Vice Chair. Jim Wansacz (D) chaired the subcommittee on Small Business with Thomas C. Creighton (R) as Vice Chair. Robert F. Matzie (D) was secretary and Mike Reese (R) was secretary of the Minority Committee.

The Commerce Committee held meetings and public hearings on the following topics: Economic Stimulation during a Recession; Economic Development and Job Creation; Check Fraud; Mortgage Foreclosure; Weatherization Assistance Program; Marcellus Shale; Neighborhood Blight; Banking; Agriculture Committee Files; and Coal Caucus Files.

Method of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
