Scope and Contents

The records of the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee from the 2011-2012 session, the Republicans in majority. The Chairs were Stephen Barrar (Majority) and Chris Sainato (Minority). Mark Gillen (Majority) served as Secretary. The Chairs for the Subcommittee on Military and Veterans Facilities were Karen Boback (Majority) and Bryan Barbin (Minority). The Chairs for the Subcommittee on Security and Emergency Response Readiness were Frank Farry (Majority) and Neil Goodman (Minority). Some important legislative issues from the 2011-2012 session included increasing pay for active PA National Guard members (HB 1758), amending towing laws and regulations (HB 1762), and revising and modifying Pennsylvania's emergency management code, or Title 35, (HB 2562).

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
