Scope and Contents

This collection contains all of Representative Boyd's prime sponsor legislation during his tenure in the House. He introduced house bills regarding employer liability, business insurance policies, health care reform and regulation, unemployment compensation, and intergovernmental cooperation between local municipalities. Much of the legislation is reintroduced in each session year.

Biographical or Historical Information

Scott W. Boyd was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1958. He attended Lampeter-Strasburg High School, graduating in 1976. Boyd then went on to earn his BS in political science from Millersville University in 1980. Before being elected to the House of Representatives, he served as Chief Executive Officer and owner of White Oak Display & Design Incorporated. He was also an active republican in his district before his election, serving as a member on the Republican Committee of Lancaster County from 1993 to 1997, as well as the West Lampeter Planning Commission from 1999-2002. He was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2002, where he represented the 43rd District of Lancaster County for five consecutive terms, then retired from the House in 2012. During his tenure with the House, Representative Boyd was assigned to the Commerce Committee (2003-2008), the Labor Relations Committee (2003-2006; Vice Chair for the 2007-2008 session; 2009-2012), the State Government Committee (2003-2004), the Tourism and Recreational Development Committe (Secretary 2003-2006; 2009-2012), the Insurance Committee (2007-2012), and the Finance Committee (2007-2008; 2011-2012).
