The Select Committee was charged with investigating the implementation of the Commonwealth's plan for divesting itself of State general hospitals, including, but not limited to, studies performed by the Commonwealth and by contracted consultants concerning divestitures, methods and procedures used in assessing health care needs, financial arrangements between the Commonwealth and the prospective owners and operations, and short-term and long-term effects divestiture has had on patients.
