The 2007-2008 Session, as the first session this committee served, was chaired by Democrat Harold James. The Committee held many tours and hearings, paying special attention to the operations of the newly built casinos and the casinos’ impact upon the surrounding communities. In addition, the Committee dealt with issues such as Local Option Small Games of Chance, Bingo, Law Enforcement, Table Authorizations, Testing for Banned Substances and Compulsive Gambling. This collection also contains press collected by the Committee, talking points and remarks, and research from 2003 to 2008. The Gaming Oversight Committee of 2007-2008, however, did not provide a committee records, bill files or regulations.
