Scope and Contents
In response to the serious concerns regarding the utilization of minority and women-owned businesses and minority and women employees in contracts awarded by Commonwealth Agencies, Boards and Commissions, The House of Representatives on May 22, 1984 and September 18, 1984, by House Resolution 227 and 265 respectively, created a seven person select committee. The Speaker of the House of Representatives appointed the Select Committee to consist of seven members, four from the majority party and three from the minority party to conduct an investigation to ascertain the degree to which minority and women-owned businesses have been utilized in contracts awarded by State agencies and to determine if State agencies are conducting effective contract compliance reviews. The members of the committee are as follows; Representative Gordon J. Linton (D), Chairman, Representative Paul McHale (D), Representative Joseph Preston, Jr. (D), Representative David P. Richardson (D), Jr., Representative Mary Ann Arty (R), Representative Lois Sherman Hagarty (R) and Representative Robert C. Wright (R).
