Biography

The House Select Committee to Investigate Commonwealth Agency utilization of minority and women-owned businesses, pursuant to House Resolution 227, p.n. 3029, was charged with the task of conducting an investigation to ascertain the degree to which minority and women-owned businesses have been utlized in contracts awarded by State agencies and further, to determine if State agencies are conducting effective compliance reviews. The House Select Committee was created to promote economic development through a legitimate and necessary governmental function and promote a healthy free enterprise systems directly related to small businesses. Scope and Contents In response to the serious concerns regarding the utilization of minority and women-owned businesses and minority and women employees in contracts awarded by Commonwealth Agencies, Boards and Commissions, The House of Representatives on May 22, 1984 and September 18, 1984, by House Resolution 227 and 265 respectively, created a seven person select committee.
