Vereb, Michael A., 1966-
Biographical Statement
Michael A. Vereb was born in West Norriton, Pennsylvania on October 6, 1966. After his graduation from Bishop Kenrick High School in 1985, he enrolled in the Montgomery County Police Academy, graduating one year later in 1986. Shortly thereafter, Vereb then started his career in the West Conshohocken Police Department. He left the police after ten years of service to work in the private sector with Comcast and Day & Zimmerman Security Services. Vereb began his career in politics in 2007 upon his election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 150th legislative district of Montgomery County. Vereb, a Republican, served in the House from 2007 until 2016, when he voluntarily decided to not run for reelection. In early 2017, Attorney General Josh Shapiro named Vereb as the director of government affairs for the Pennsylvania Attorney General Office. While in office, Vereb served on the committees of Insurance, State Government, Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness, Gaming Oversight, Judiciary, Appropriations, and Transportation. He served as the Subcommittee Chair on Crime and Corrections (Judiciary) and Aviation (Transportation). Vereb also served as the Majority Caucus Secretary from 2011 to 2014. As a former police officer, Vereb was highly concerned with the safety and recognition of all Pennsylvania police officers while in office. Vereb also promoted general health and well-being, particularly in the preventive testing of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. In Montgomery County, he was involved with the Norristown Police Athletic League, the Hancock Fire Company, and other athletic and religious associations.
