biographical statement

The Legislative Reference Bureau was created by the act of April 27, 1909 (P.L.208 No.143). It was reorganized as a legislative agency by the act of May 7, 1923 (P.L.158 No. 119) (46 P.S. § 451 et. seq.) for use by the government and citizens of the Commonwealth. The primary purpose of the Bureau is to prepare requested legislative bills and resolutions for introduction in the General Assembly; to advise members of the Legislature and legislative committees; and, from time to time, to prepare proposed codifications of existing general statutes for adoption or rejection by the General Assembly.
