Scope and Contents

The records of the Labor Relations Committee from the 1983-1984 session, the Democrats in majority. The chairs were Mark Cohen (Majority) and Joseph Pitts (Minority). The Vice Chairs were William Steward (Majority) and Gibson Armstrong (Minority). The Secretary was Robert Donatucci (Majority). This series is mainly composed of meetings, tours, and publications. One House Bill that is of considerable interest in this collection is House Bill 1130, which addresses the "Pennsylvania Human Relations Act" that deals with wage differential on the basis of worth. There are also Subject Files on the Pennsylvania Economic future and an extra analysis of Senate Bill 706 which addresses the "Unemployment Compensation Law."

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing� the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
