Scope and Contents

The records of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives' Government Oversight Committee, the Republicans in the majority, the Democrats in the minority. The Chairs of the Committee were Seth Grove (majority) and Matthew Bradford (minority).The purpose of the committee is to provide better legislative oversight on how tax dollars are spent, how state agencies operate, and investigates matters referred by the speaker, majority leader or minority leader. The nine-member committee aims to develop consensus on solutions to address the findings of their investigation. The committee mirrors the House Committee on Oversight and Reform in the U.S. Congress.

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
