Scope and Contents

The 2015-2016 Tourism and Recreational Development Committee was chaired by David S. Hickernell (Majority) and Thaddeus Kirkland (D). The Subcommittee on Arts and Entertainment was chaired by Karen Boback (Majority) and Daniel Deasy (D). The Subcommittee on Recreation was chaired by Doyle Heffley (Majority) and Mark Longietti (D). The Subcommittee on Travel Promotion was chaired by Marcia Hann (Majority). Jessie Topper (Majority) and Leslie Acosta (D) served as secretaries. Some of the issues that were discussed are Tourism Promotion Fees, Hotel Room taxes, and establishing a grant program for historical preservation

Method of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
