Scope and Contents

The records of the Appropriations Committee for the 2015-2016 session, the Republicans in majority. The Chairs of the Committee were William Adolph, Jr. (majority) and Joseph Markosek (minority). The Vice Chair was Mark Mustio (majority). The majority subcommittee chairs were Thomas Killion (Economic Impact and Infrastructure), David Millard (Education), Curtis Sonney (Fiscal Policy), and Karen Boback (Health and Welfare). The majority Secretary was Jeffrey Pyle.

One of the primary responsibilities of the Appropriations Committee is to host public hearings in the Spring of each year to listen to state agencies' requests for funding for the upcoming fiscal year. The state budget bill and the annual fiscal code are brought to the General Assembly for passage prior to June 30 of each year.

Method of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
