Scope and Contents

The records of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives' Consumer Affairs Committee, the Republicans in the majority, the Democrats in the minority. The Chairs of the Committee were Robert Godshall (majority) and Peter Daley (minority). The Chairs for the Subcommittee on Public Utilities were Rob Kauffman (majority) and Robert Matzie (minority). The Chairs for the Subcommittee on Telecommunications were Thomas Killion (majority) and Frank Burns (minority). The Secretaries were Warren Kampf (majority) and Pam Snyder (minority).

This Committee held public hearings/meetings regarding telecommunications and cable companies. They also sponsored House Bills on Public Utilities such as energy consumption and water lines.

Method of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
