Scope and Contents

The Records of the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee from the 2015-2016 session, the Republicans in the majority. The chairs were John A. Maher (majority) and Greg Vitali (minority). The chair of the Subcommittee on Energy was Garth D. Everett (majority). The chairs of the Subcommittee on Mining were Carl Walker Metzgar (majority) and Pam Snyder (minority). This committee oversaw a variety of environmental and resource issues. The committee was mostly concerned with oversight regarding natural gas drilling and surface mining. The committee also held a joint hearing with its Senate counterpart on Governor Tom Wolf's Chesapeake Bay Reboot Strategy. This committee enacted several regulations mostly concerning environmental protection standards on oil and gas well sites, as well as emissions from various manufacturing materials.

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
