Scope and Contents

The 2007-2008 Judiciary Committee includes records, bills, resolutions, and voting information of the Judiciary Committee from the 2007-2008 Legislative Session. In addition to discussing topics of typical focus, the Committee also held a series of public meetings (Informational Meeting on Crime, Violence, Drugs and Guns, March 16, 2007); and reviewed concerns related to juvenile, veteran, mortgage and other problem-solving courts (Informational Meeting on Veterans Court, Mortgage Court, and Other Problem-Solving Courts, November 24, 2008). The 2007-2008 Judiciary Committee was chaired by Democrat Tom Caltagirone. John Pallone served as the Subcommittee Chair on Crime and Corrections, while Don Walko served as Subcommittee Chair on Courts. Kathy Manderino served as Subcommittee Chair on Family Law. Daylin Leach served as Secretary. Ronald Marsico served as Minority Republican Chairman. Thomas Creighton served as Republican Subcommittee Chair on Courts, while William Gabig served as the Republican Subcommittee Chair on Crimes and Corrections. Glen Grell served as Republican Subcommittee Chair on Family Law. There was no minority secretary.

Method of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
