Scope and Contents
The 2007-2008 Consumer Affairs Committee includes records, bills, resolutions, and voting information of the Consumer Affairs Committee from the 2007-2008 Legislative Session. In addition to discussing topics of typical focus, the Committee also considered ways to mitigate the effects of rising electricity prices (Public Hearing-Building Electricity, Procurement, Rate Caps, Electric Price Mitigation Strategies, September 5, 2007); and reviewed legislation concerning home improvement consumer protection (House Bill 507).
The 2007-2008 Consumer Affairs Committee was chaired by Democrat Joseph Preston. Ronald Buxton served as the Subcommittee Chair of Telecommunications, and Edward Wojnaroski served as Subcommittee Chair of Public Utilities. Joseph Brennan served as the Democratic Secretary. On the Republican side, Robert Godshall served as Minority Chair, Douglas Reichley served as Minority Chair on the Subcommittee of Telecommunications, Robert Kauffman served as Minority Chair on the Subcommittee of Public Utilities. There was no minority secretary on the Committee for the 2007-2008 Legislative Session.

Method of Acquisition
Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled "Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees") governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meetings and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
