Scope and Contents

The records of the Conservation Committee from the 1987-1988 session, the Democrats in Majority. The chairs were Camille George (Majority) and George C. Hasay (Minority). The Vice Chairmen were John D. Wozniak (Majority) and Robert D. Reber (Minority.)The Secretary was Curt Bowley (Majority).

A separate collection regarding Independent Regulatory Review Commission regulations from 1982 to 1987 was incorporated into this collection as the staff likely used these for research during the 1987-1988 session.

This collection is arranged into 3 series: 1. Meetings, Tours, and Public Hearings; 2. Reports; and 3. Regulations. There are numerous subseries. This collection combined two collections into one. Regulations from 1982 to 1987 was processed as a separate collection. The Conservation Committee kept these files as research throughout the various terms, so they are now combined into the 1987-1988 Conservation Committee. They are being left in original order, regardless of year.

Method of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
