This collection contains the records of the Consumer Affairs Committee for the 1989-1990 session, Democrats in majority. Chairs David Wright (D) and James Wright (R) serving with the Subcommittee on Public Utilities members Jeffrey Coy (D) and Kathryann Durham (R) and secretary Michael Veon (D). This committee met over several topics including insurance, contracts, vehicle laws, parking rights for mobile homes, nutrition labeling, landfill charges, taxicab programs, and radon testing. This committee held public hearings on the Vehicle Motor Lemon Law in Pittsburgh and nutrition labeling in State College.

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
