Scope and Contents

The 2007-2008 Local Government Committee includes records, bills, resolutions, and voting information of the Local Government Committee from the 2007-2008 Legislative Session. In addition to discussing topics of typical focus, the Committee proposed amendments to the Pennsylvania Municipality Planning Code (House Bill 904, December 5, 2007). Robert Freeman served as the Majority Chair for the 2007-2008 Local Government Committee. Richard Grucela served as the Majority Chair on the Subcommittee on Counties. This collection is arranged in 4 series. 1.) Committee Record; 2.) Meetings, Tours and Public Hearings; 3). House Bills; 4). Senate Bills. This collection consists of one and a half boxes.

Method of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
