The records of the Conservation Committee, 1983-1984, the Democrats in the majority. Camille George (D) served as the Majority Chairman and George C. Hasay (R) served as the Minority Chairman. William C. Rybak (D) served as Minority Vice Chairman and Paul Wass (R) served as Minority Vice Chairman. William J. Stewart (D) served as the Secretary.

The Committee investigated the Department of Environmental Resources, in addition to discussing landfills and other environmental issues.
