Scope and Contents

The Environmental Resources and Energy Committee was chaired by Scott E. Hutchinson (Majority) and Camille George (D). The Subcommittee on Energy was chaired by Garth D. Everett (Majority) and Mike Carroll (D). Jeffrey P. Pyle (Majority) and R. Ted Harhai (D) chaired the Subcommittee on Mining. Martin T. Causer (Majority) and Steven J. Santarsiero (D) chaired the Subcommittee on Parks and Forests. The Secretary was Matt Gabler (Majority) and John Hornaman (D).

The 2011- 2012 Environmental Resources and Energy Committee focused on regulating oil, gas, and coal production, green and alternative energy sources, the study of biofuels, energy efficient appliances, wetlands, and sewage and waste management.

Method of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
