The 2013-2014 Professional Licensure Committee saw the Republicans in the Majority. Julie Harhart served as Majority Chair, David S. Hickernell served as Majority Vice Chair, and Michele Brooks served as Majority Secretary. Harry A. Readshaw served as Minority Chair, William C. Kortz II served as Minority Vice Chair, and Jaret Gibbons served as Minority Secretary. Some of the topics the committee focused on during the 2013-2014 session included the licensing of cosmetologists, professional counselors, homeopathy and the licensing of pharmacies and pharmacists.

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.
