Scope and Contents

The records of the 1985-1986 session of the Health and Welfare Committee, the Democrats in majority. The committee was chaired by James Barber (Majority). Frank Pistella (Majority) served as Chair of the Subcommittee on Health, while the Subcommittee on Welfare was chaired by Michael Dawida (Majority) and the Subcommittee on Youth and Aging was chaired by Allen Kukovich (Majority). Donald Dorr (Minority) served as Minority Chairman. Joseph Gladeck served as Minority Chair of the Subcommittee on Health, while Paul Clymer served as Minority Chairman of the Subcommittee on Welfare and Joseph Lashinger served as Minority Chairman of the Subcommittee on Youth and Aging. Richard Kasunic (Majority) was the Secretary.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Pursuant to House Rule 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (titled “Powers and Duties of Standing Committees and Subcommittees”) governing the management and disposition of historically valuable committee material, the secretary of the committee must record the attendance of Members and any votes taken, the minutes of the meeting and records, bills, and other papers in the possession of committees and subcommittees which must be submitted to the Chief Clerk at the end of every two year legislative session for permanent archival storage.

This rule does not apply to records created by minority Members of the committee, but in this instance records were submitted for preservation.
