Scope and Contents

Obscenity

June 5, 1995, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to a constituent. Regarding Rep. Durham's legislation House Bill 940 regarding public nudity. Attempts to legislate a view on morality need caution.

November 28, 1995, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to a constituent. Regarding House Bill 881 dealing with community obscenity standards. He is also troubled by the scope of this bill and that it may hamper businesses distributing offensive materials. Attached is the constituent's letter, November 7, 1995.

December 1, 2000, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to a constituent. Regarding House Bill 2324. It's intended to protect children from obscene material on the internet in schools and public libraries. It did not pass the Senate so will need to be reintroduced next session.

Outcome Based Education

February 18, 1993, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to a constituent. Sending an update on outcome based education. The idea behind the movement is to provide flexibility for teachers to use more creative teaching methods.

August 23, 1993, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to a constituent. Addressing concerns about outcome based education.

April 13, 1994, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to a constituent. Addressing an inquiry about outcome based education and the Governor's Health Care plan.

Ozone Depletion

November 8, 1996, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to a constituent. Responding to concerns with water in the troposphere and the creation of nitric acid, contributing to the depletion of the ozone.

Optometric Practice and Licensure

Memo, April 25, 1995, from Sharon DePalma, Research Analyst to Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, regarding writing the letter to a constituent regarding House Bill 1166. Attached is the letter, April 28, 1995, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to a constituent. Regarding House Bill 1166 and the hearings coming soon. There's a new committee chairman, so he may be open to granting optometrists the right to dispense medical treatment.

May 12, 1995, from Rep. Thomas Scrimenti, to the Erie County Department of Health. Regarding House Bill 1045 to allow local county health departments to administer and enforce the Clean Streams Act. It's designed to conform to recent environmental laws. Attached is the Erie County Department of Health's letter, April 25, 1995.
