Regulation #15-221
Scope and Contents
A player with a winning ticket can collect up to $2,500 at any Numbers Games retailer within 30 days of the date of the drawing under the current procedure for payment of prizes. If the winning ticket is more than $2,500 or over 30 days old, the ticket must be validated by a Numbers Games retailer and a claim filed at the retailer or a Lottery office. The Lottery will send a check for the prize to the player. There had been no problems with the 30 day claim deadline with a Numbers Games retailer until the introduction of a $7 prize in the Super 7 game. This new prize significantly increased the number of prizes not being paid in the field within 30 days. The processing of these claims in the Lottery office is a time-consuming and costly effort for a minimum prize amount.
To eliminate this problem, the Super 7 game is being amended to remove the 30 day limitation. The section will now provide that the Director will announce a designated time period in which prizes can be paid by on-line numbers sales retailers. The Daily Number, Big Four, Pennsylvania Lotto, and Wild Card Lotto games are also being amended so that the procedure is consistent for all on-line games.
