This collection reflects the 42 year career of Representative Mark B. Cohen. During that time, Cohen fought for laws regarding same sex marriage, education, adoption, and health care all of which are seen throughout his legislative works. He served as Majority Caucus Chairman for 3 terms (1989-1990, 1991-1992, 2009-2010), Majority Whip (1993-1994), and Minority Caucus Chairman ( 1995- 2006). He served on the State Government Committee as Minority Chair. This collection contains Representative Cohen’s research on legislation and issues facing citizens of his district (Philadelphia) and Pennsylvania. There are numerous photographs and news clippings that visually depict Cohen’s time in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. There is a large collection of correspondence between notable figures in the House such as K.Leroy Irvis, William DeWeese, and Dwight Evans.
