Regarding Regulations, June-October 1985
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of meeting and public hearing files, bill files, committee correspondence and research and reports. The 1985-1986 Liquor Control Committee was chaired by Democrat Eugene Saloom and addressed issues such as nuisance bars, holding of tournaments by retail liquor licensees, enforcement by the Liquor Control Board and underage drinking, to name just a few.
The 1985-1986 Liquor Control Committee was charged with investigating the holding of tournaments by retail liquor licensees pursuant to House Resolution 32 of the 1985-1986 Session. Although several hearings were held on this resolution, no final report was given to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. A Sub-Committee on Underaged Drinking was also created and chaired by Representative Stanley Jarolin, however, Chairman Saloom discharged the sub-committee on June 27, 1985. No files from the sub-committee are included in this collection, but based upon the correspondence found in Box 2, Folder 6, it appears that House Bill 843, which was discussed by the full committee, resulted from the Sub-committee's work.
Serving with Representative Saloom were Tom Tigue, Vice Chairman; Kevin Blaum, Secretary; Ralph Acosta; Fred Belardi; Andrew Carn; Gaynor Cawley; Brian Clark; Robert Donatucci; Roger Duffy; Stanley Jarolin; Keith McCall; Richard Olasz; and James Roebuck. On the Republican side, Joseph Manmiller served as chairman and Franklin Coslett served as Vice Chairman. Republican members of the committee were Mario Civera; Alice Langtry; William Mackowski; Nicholas Moehlmann; John Perzel; Terry Punt; and Christopher Wogan.
