Pennsylvania History in Outline, by Sylvester K. Stevens, 1960
Scope and Contents
This collection includes campaign and office materials, newsletters, legislative work, events, photographs, Pennsylvania House of Representatives publications and books. The newsletters provide a broad overview of Ms. Rubley’s work in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, highlighting her achievements and responding to the concerns of her constituents.
The legislative work focuses primarily on twelve years of effort promoting the need for vocational and technical education, about which Ms. Rubley states, “I think these schools are very, very important … we need them [and students] need to be trained in certain skills so that they are employable.... These schools have progressed so over the years, it is amazing. I mean, some of them are high-tech, really, now,” (Oral History Interview, pages 20-21). The books in the collection provide an overview of Pennsylvania’s history and government, probably the majority of which acquainted Ms. Rubley with her new state and the process of Pennsylvania’s government.
Researchers interested in Ms. Rubley’s House career or the topics in which she was involved should inquire for her Oral History Interview conducted on October 27, 2008.
