Regulation #14-505, Child Care Eligibility Requirements
Scope and Contents
The 2005-2006 Children and Youth Committee, chaired by Republican Jerry Birmelin, focused mainly on child abuse and neglect issues, day care and child care issues, foster children's rights, the Children's Trust Fund Act, and the effects of violent games on children. The committee held meetings on these issues and attended tours of the Schaffner Youth Detention Center in Steelton and the Auditor General's Child Care Center.
Public Hearings were held on injury prevention and promotion of child safety, mandated child abuse reporting, mandated child abuse training for public school teachers, foster children's rights, the effects of violent games on children and methamphetamine abuse. The official transcripts of these public hearings are available via the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Public Hearing Database.
The Committee also discussed Regulations #14-505 and #14-506, both of which relate to child care. The full regulations are available in this collection.
The meeting, tours and public hearing files consist of minutes and attendance and vote records.

On the Democrat side of the aisle, Michael Gruitza served as Minority Chair of the Committee, Rosita Youngblood served as Minority Vice Chair and Joshua Shapiro served as Minority Secretary.
