The Children and Youth Committee of the 2009-2010 Session was chaired by Democrat Louise Bishop. She, with fellow Democrats Steve Samuelson (Vice Chair) and Patrick Harkins (Secretary) ran the committee with Republicans Dennis O'Brien (Minority Chair), Dan Moul (Minority Vice Chair), and Jim Cox (Minority Secretary).

This committee held many public hearings involving topics such as Fostercare, Violence in Videogames, Breastfeeding in Public Rights, Illegal Drugs and Alcohol, Childhood Obesity, Delinquency, and Juvenile Justice.
