The records of the Judiciary Committee from the 2013-2014 session, the Republicans in the majority. The Chairs were Ron Marsico (majority) and Thomas R. Caltagirone (minority). The chairs of the Subcommittee on Courts were Glen R. Grell (majority) and John P. Sabatina (minority). The chiars of the Subcommittee on Crimes and Corrections were Timothy Krieger (majority) and Matthew P. Bradford (minority). The chairs of the Subcommittee on Family and Law were Bryan Culter (majority) and Jesse White (minority). The Secrataries were Todd Stephans (majority) and Deberah Kula (minority). In addition to holding voting meetings throughout the session, the Committee held public hearings on the growing heroin epidemic in Pennsylvania, possibly changing some of the components of the background checks for purchasing firearms, and the closing of certain state correctional facilities. Also, the Committee conducted several tours, including the State Correctional Institute in Camp Hill, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, and the Cranberry Township Police Department.
