The records of the State Government Comittee from the 1983-1984 session, the Democrats in majority. The chairs were Frank Oliver (majority) and James J. Gallen (minority). The subcommittee chairs of telecommunications were Thomas A. Michlovic (majority) and June N. Honaman (minority). The secretary was Gaynor Cawley (majority). Some key issues covered by the committee were the conveying and restrictions of land to multiple counties and townships, having state vehicles converted to run on gas, designating bridges, prohbiting the use of the Governor's and Lieutenant Governor's Mansion for political fundraising events, regulations in the Horse Racing Commission, appointing principals and assistant principals to act as registrars for the purpose of registering qualified students and employees of schools in cities of the first and second class, to be able to say 'yes' so as to report out with or without amendment, allowing or prohibiting games of chance in certain venues, safe distribution of kerosene, prevention of voter registration from being rejected because of the applicant's skin color, and providing jobs to civilians for a certain period of time.
