This collection contains the records of the Judiciary Committee for the 1983-1984 session, Democrats in the Majority. The Majority Chairman was Samuel Rappaport (D) and the Minority Chairman was Warren H. Spencer (R). The Majority Sub-Committee Chairman on Courts was William Wachob (D) and the Minority Sub-Committee Chairman on Courts was Terrence F. McVerry (R). The Majority Sub-Committee Chairman on Crimes and Corrections is David W. Sweet (D) and the Minority Sub-Committee Chairman on Crimes and Corrections was Jeffrey E. Piccola (R). The Secretary was Stephen E. Levin (D). Some of the major topics discussed were, better management of the jails and county prisons, limiting bail-setting jurisdictions of district judges, authorization of powers to the Delaware River Port Authority in conjunction with the State of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, assignment of judges and officials, and setting further penalties for statutory rape.
