The Collection contains information related to the Insurance Committee for the 1981-1982 session. Serving as Chairman for the majority was Republican Walter F. DeVerter, as Vice-Chairman was Republican Peter R. Vroon and as Secretary was Republican Bruce Smith. This committee met to discuss House Bill 1285 during the duration of the 1981-82 session. House Bill 1285 is an Act amending the "Pennsylvania No-fault Motor Vehicle Insurance Act," approved July 19, 1974. This redefined and added terms, further providing for motor vehicle insurance, proof of security at vehicle inspection and registration, for operation of a vehicle without security, for surrender of registration on suspension, creating an allowable expense catastrophic loss fund, providing for reasonable compensation for certain victims, limiting excessive profits and requiring disclosure of certain information. Meetings, public hearings, correspondence and research information is provided and is specifically geared towards this bill.
