Scope and Contents
The 2003-2004 session of the Consumer Affairs Committee was chaired by Republican Raymond Bunt (Majority) and Democrat Joseph Preston (Minority). The Chairs of the Subcommittee on Telecommunications were John Fichter (Majority) and Ronald Buxton (Minority). The Chairs of the Subcommittee on Public Utilities were Matthew Wright (Majority) and Susan Laughlin (Minority). The Secretaries were Jacqueline Crahalla (Majority) and Edward Wojnaroski (Minority).
Topics such as a No Call Registry, the costs of long distance phone calls, empowering housing and business inspectors, and pertection from purchasing defective computer technology were discussed. Public Hearings pretaining to residential telephone service rates, Rail Safety, and the Natural Gas Industry were held around the state. Oakford Natural Gas Storage, PJN Interconnection LLC, and Excelon provided tours of their facilities to the Consumer Affairs Committee.
