Vietnam Veterans Health Initiative Commission, 1985-1996

 Sub-Series — Box: 10
Identifier: Series 4

Scope and Contents

Act 99 (House Bill 1575) of 1982 created the Vietnam Herbicides Information Commission (VHIC) in order to study the health effects of exposure to Agent Orange on Vietnam veterans in Pennsylvania. The Commission's final report was released in June 1987 (a copy of which is housed in this series). House Bill 942 (Act 67) of 1987 created the Vietnam Veterans Health Initiative Commission (VVHIC), replacing the VHIC, which had a similar mission. Belfanti was appointed to the Commission in 1985, serving until 1996. This series contains meetings, correspondence, research, newsletters, reports and studies all relating to Agent Orange and other similar herbicides. Also included are files on the Veterans Memorial Commission and the Persian Gulf Veterans Pension legislation.
