Biography
Chuck Bednarik, born May 1, 1925 in Bethlehem, PA. Attended SS Syril and Methodius parochial school and Liberty High School. Attended the University of PennsylvaniaServed, 1946-1949.He was a 60-minute man, playing center and linebacker. Elected to College Football Hall of Fame. Won the Maxwell Award, 1948. Voted at the greatest center of all-time, 1969.
United States Army Air Forces, World War II, awarded the Air Medal and four Oak Leaf Clusters, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and four Battle Stars.
Bednarick was drafted in 1949 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He played both offense, as a center, and defense, as a linebacker. Named All-Pro eight times. Retired from the NFL after 14 seasons, 1962. Enshrined into Pro Football Hall of Fame, August 5, 1967.
Passed away in March 21, 2015, in Richland, Pennsylvania.
