Godshall, Robert W., 1933-2019
Biography
Robert W. Godshall was born on May 15, 1933 in Souderton, Montgomery County, PA. He graduated from Soudertown High School in 1951 and then graduated from Juniata College with a B.S. in business administration and economics. Godshall attended Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania in 1956 for graduate studies before serving as President at Godshall's Hatchery Incorporated. Godshall enetered the political spehere in 1962 when he was a member of the Montgomery County Republican Committee. He was later elected to the Souderton Area School Board, Pennsylvania School Board Association, and Montgomery County School Board Legislative Committee. In addition, he was elected the controller of Montgomery County in 1980 and served in that position until he was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1983. During his 35 years of service, Godshall was appointed to the State Employees Retirement System and the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee. He served as the Chair of the Tourism and Recreational Development Committee from 1995 to 2007. He was then appointed Chair of the Consumer Affairs Committee from 2007 until his retirement in 2018. He was also Chair of the Committee on Committees for one term, 2015-2016. After his retirement, Godshall later passed away on November 24, 2019 in Sellersville, Bucks County, PA.
