He earned his B.A from the University of Pennsylvania in 1957 and his M.A from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958. He became a associate professor of American Civilization at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia And a professor at Acadia University and Montgomery County Community College. He was elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1993 term; served 9 more consecutive terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (2012); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (2004); died, December 17, 2018 in Pennsylvania; interred, George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
