Ross, L. Chris, 1951-
Biography
L. Chris Ross was born on November 3, 1951 in Bryn Mawr, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Ross attended St. Paul's School where he graduated in 1969. He also attended Harvard College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1974. Ross was a campaign worker for United States Senator John Heinz and Pennsylvania Governor Dick Thornburgh. Ross owned Rox Industries,Inc and served as Vice President of the National Crucible Company from 1975-1979. He was later elected to the board of supervisors of London Grove Township. Ross was unsuccessful in a 1994 run for House of Representatives, but was successful in 1996 and reelected for 9 more consecutive terms. Ross served as a Republican representative for the 158th district in Chester County until 2016 when he was not a candidate for reelection. During his terms he heavily focused on environmental protection, eventually passing numerous bills that helped lower carbon emissions. Ross was also a strong advocate for consumer credit codes and payday loans. He served on the Liquor Control, Urban Affairs, Environmental Resource and Energy,Commerce, Health and Human Services, and Local Government Committees. After leaving the House, Ross became an adjunct professor at Georgetown University in the McCourt School of Public Policy.
