Carl W. Mantz was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1938 to Harold C. and Anna I. Mantz. He graduated from Kutztown Area High School in 1956 and Franklin and Marshall College in 1960. He continued his education, earning an MBA from Lehigh University in 1973 and a JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1980. He was also involved in LLM Program Work from the Dickinson School of Law. He served as Lt. Colonel in the United States Army and in the Reserves. He was both an attorney and an Assistant District Attorney for Berks County. He served parts of Berks and Lehigh Counties, the 187th District, in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2007-2008. He was a Republican and an advocate of open space and farmland preservation, government reform and accountability and open, competative and clean elections.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of twenty-two folders of photographs documenting Carl Mantz's service at the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. They are almost entirely of Mantz's visitors to the Capitol, but include a few legislative issues such as condolence resolutions.
