Malady, Regis Rowland, Sr., 1917-1985

Regis Rowland Malady (D) was born February 9, 1917 in Elizabeth Township, the youngest of 18 children of James and Laura Kistler Malady. Regis attended Elizabeth Township High School and then went on to be a student at Allegheny Technical Institute. He became a Councilman in the Borough of Elizabeth. In 1957-59, he was the Mayor of the Borough of Elizabeth. He was reelected and in 1966 and served until 1969, when he was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, in the 39th District of Alleghency County, where he served three terms (1969-1974). He had a perfect attendance record in the House. He was married to the former Virginia Sullivan on August 25, 1941; father of eight children and grandfather of two; home address: 709 Seventh Avenue, Elizabeth.
Known for Senate Bill 924, which created the Elizabeth Bridge, renamed the Regis Malady Bridge in 1985 after his death on May 1, 1985.
Also known for his work on the Conservation and Professional Licensure Committees.
