Ruth C. Rudy served the 171st Legislative District (portions of Centre and Mifflin Counties) as a Democrat from 1983 to 1996. Born January 3, 1938 in Millheim, she graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1955. She received a degree in radiological technology from Carnegie Institute, and attended Penn State University for two years. Ruth was elected Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts for Centre County in 1975.

Legislatively, her interests included loan forgiveness for teachers in distressed school districts, insurance coverage for mammograms, neighborhood crime watch programs, and teenage pregnancies.

She unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Congress in 1996, but after retiring from the PA House, she was served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
