Jacqueline Crahalla served the 150th District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2003-2006. She was born on October 8, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in English and Communications from Gwynedd-Mercy College in 1993. Before coming to the House of Representatives, she worked as a Legal Assistant for Merck & Co., Inc. for twenty-five years, and then she became the Manager of Corporate Contributions for Astra-Merck for four years. She served on the Lower Providence Township Planning Commission for four years and as a Township Supervisor for five years. In the community, Rep. Crahalla has been a part of the Farm Park Advisory Committee, the Evansburg Park Advisory Committee, and the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy. During her time in the House, Rep. Crahalla served on the Aging and Older Adult Services Committee from 2003-2006, the Consumer Affairs Committee as Secretary from 2003-2006, the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee from 2003-2006, the Urban Affairs Committee from 2003-2004, and the Labor Relations Committee from 2005-2006. She also served on the PA Commission for Women from 2004-2006. She has been part of several informal caucuses, such as the Firefighters’ and Emergency Services Caucus [2002-2006], the Alzheimer’s Caucus, the Autism Caucus, the Corrections Caucus, and the Land Use Caucus. Legislatively, Rep. Crahalla had passed into law Act 25 of 2004, which repealed an act that authorized the draining of swamps and wetlands. She also amended the Real Estate Tax Law [Act 161 of 2004], further providing for hearing and order for judicial sale. In addition, she authored two significant bills that have been debated fiercely in the House. They include an Anti-Blight Bill [HB 659 of 2005] and an Anti-Terrorism Bill [HB 462 of 2005], the former providing for offenses of scattering rubbish, and the latter providing for the offense of soliciting and supporting an act of terrorism. She retired from the House in 2006.
