Bruce I. Smith, Jr. served 92nd District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1981-2006. He was born on February 19, 1934 in Harrisburg, PA, and he attended Elizabethtown College, receiving his B.A. in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58 and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1958-62. He then went on to Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his M.Ed. in 1961. Before his election to the House, Mr. Smith was a teacher.
During his tenure as Representative, Mr. Smith served on the Federal-State Relations Committee from 1981-1982 and 1985-1988, Game and Fisheries Committee from 1981-2006, Insurance Committee from 1981-1982, Finance Committee from 1983-1990, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee from 1991-1992, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee from 1993-2000, and Aging and Older Adult Services Committee from 2001-2006. He was Secretary of the Insurance Committee in the 1981-1982 Session, Vice Chairman of the Game and Fisheries Committee from 1989-1992, and the Chairman of the Game and Fisheries Committee from 1993-2006. Smith retired from the House in 2006.
