biographical statement
Thomas L. Stevenson was elected in 1996 and began serving the 42nd District of Allegheny County in 1997 as a Republican. A supporter of education issues and library development, he has been the author of several bills on the topic. He also champions emergency workers, National Guard members and economic development. Stevenson actively worked with community service in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. He served as Chairman of the House Ethics Committee and as a member of the Education, Local Government and Professional Licensure Committees. He served as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Higher Education. He is also on the Sportemen's, Firefighters' and Emergency Services and Autism Caucuses as well as the Penn State Forum.
