George T. Kenney, Jr. served portions of Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1985 to 2008. Born October 29, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kenney is the son of the late George T. Sr. and Anne Kenney. He was educated at LaSalle College High School. He attended LaSalle University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. Prior to his Legislative career, he worked in the sales department at McNeil Pharmaceutical in New Jersey. During his tenure as Representative, Kenney served on the Consumer Affairs Committee, the Finance Committee, the Urban Affairs Committee, the Liquor Control Committee, the Professional Licensure Committee, the Appropriations Committee, the Labor Relations Committee, the Commerce and Economic Development Committee, the Committee on Committees, the Tourism and Recreational Development Committee and the Health and Human Services Committee. In an article dated January 17, 2008, Kenney stated "It's been a great experience, but I want to leave here a young man...Now is the time to pass the torch."

This collection consists of campaign/election materials, legislative work files, newsletters, newspaper clippings, photographs, ephemera and video tapes. Part of Kenney’s legislative work focused on the Benjamin Rush State Park, the Philadelphia State Hospital (Byberry) and the establishment of a Philadelphia Veterans’ Home.� He also was interested in issues related to mental health and mental retardation, identity theft, and false insurance claims.
