Richard Lewis Thornburgh, born July 16, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA. Attended Mercersburg Academy. Graduated from Yale University, 1954. Grduated from University of Pittsburgh School of Law, 1957. Woked for Kirkpatrick and Lockhart law firm, 1959. Appointed by Presidents Nixon and Fort as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, 1969-1975. Appointed by President Ford as U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division, 1975-1977. Elected as a Republican Governor of Pennsylvania, 1979-1987. Appointed by Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush as U.S. Attorney General, 1988-1991. Served as Under-Secretary General at the United Nations, 1992-1993. Returned to practicing private law with K and L. Died on December 31, 2020 in Verona, Pennsylvania.
